5 Ways to Get WordPress Posts Indexed by Google Faster (Hours, Not Weeks)

Publishing great content nobody can find is the most common frustration in SEO. Google doesn't crawl small sites often — a new post can sit undiscovered for days or weeks. Here's how to shrink that to hours.

1. Use the Google Indexing API

Instead of waiting for Google to visit, tell Google the moment you publish. The Indexing API accepts direct URL submissions. Setting it up manually needs a Google Cloud service account — or a plugin like Auto Google Indexer that submits every new post automatically the second it goes live.

2. Add Bing IndexNow — free and instant

IndexNow is an open protocol used by Bing, Yandex and others. One ping and your URL is queued for crawling, often indexed within minutes. It costs nothing and needs one API key.

3. Fix your internal linking

Google discovers pages by following links. A post reachable only from your blog index is easy to miss — link to it from 2–3 established posts. (Our WordPress SEO checklist covers the full linking strategy.)

4. Keep your sitemap fresh

Make sure the XML sitemap updates on publish — Rank Math and Yoast both handle this (see our Rank Math vs Yoast comparison) — and that it's submitted in Search Console. Check the Pages report monthly: "Discovered, not crawled" means Google knows the URL but hasn't bothered yet.

5. Publish consistently

Sites that publish on a steady schedule get crawled on a steady schedule. Googlebot learns your rhythm. Two genuinely useful posts a week beats ten thin ones a day.

The lazy (smart) way

SEO Auto Pilot does all five in one plugin: writes SEO articles, publishes on schedule, auto-fills Rank Math/Yoast to 80+ scores, and submits every URL to Google's Indexing API and Bing IndexNow instantly. If you're curious how far automation can go, read our complete auto-blogging guide.
